The first talk was given by Prof. Dr. Clara Saraceno, Chair of Photonics and Ultrafast Laser Science. Under the title "High Power Ultrafast Lasers for Terahertz Light and More", she demonstrated how laser-driven THz sources with high average power have seen continuous progress in recent years. She sees particular potential in photocurrent-based sources, which are distinguished by high power, efficiency, and very large bandwidths. As next steps, she highlighted further laser development and suitable detection Methods.
The second talk was given by Dr. Lisa Schmitt from the Chair of Microsystems Technology. She presented her work on multi-point-stable MEMS sensors, highlighting research, further development, as well as design and manufacturing. She also provided insights into her work at mechIC, of which she is a founding team member. The start-up mechIC develops highly integrated strain sensor chips that output a digital measurement value directly, without a continuous power supply.
The subsequent get-together with drinks and snacks gave attendees the opportunity for conversation and networking.
