BMBF Project PluTO+

The project PluTO+ started in October 2014: improvement of the quality and yielding of optical coating technologies with the goal to research new manufacturing technologies for the modern optics industry.
The project connects industrial companies and research institutes and it is funded for 3 years with a budget of 9.5 mio Euros by the Ministry for Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF)) (FKZ: 13N13204 .. 15.). This project joins the works for the BMBF support initiative „Die Basis der Photonik: Funktionale Schichten und Systeme“. Besides well known instiutes, Laser Components takes part as an active industry partner in the research and development of new, future-oriented technologies.

Improvement of the process stability
The goal of the project is the improvement of the process stability in the manufacturing of optical coatings through the characterisation and control of the utilised plasma processes.
Optical elements in the IR range
Our work focuses on the manufacturing of optical elments in the inrered range of 2,1 and 2,9 µm. The physical processes in the ion sources of two LC coating systems are studied in-depth with plasma diagnostic processes. Based on that, a control system will be developed that enables an increased control of the coating process and therefore an improved quality of the products.
