terahertz.NRW is an expert network in North Rhine-Westphalia for excellent terahertz research.

Five partners from cutting-edge research in NRW work together:

  • Fraunhofer Institute for High Frequency Physics and Radar Techniques FHR
  • Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems IMS
  • Ruhr University Bochum
  • University of Duisburg-Essen
  • University of Wuppertal

Funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia

The aim of the terahertz.NRW research network is to pool expertise and allow other specialist areas to benefit from the technology. They are jointly researching the potential of terahertz technology in the following areas

  • Localization
  • Material characterization
  • Medical Technology
  • Environmental Monitoring
