Hidden Electronics - New position paper of VDE

Created by Antje Pohl | |   InSys

New position paper by VDE on assessing the future of semiconductor technology in Germany.

With the new position paper, VDE takes a clear position in order to strengthen the key role of electronics for the German economy.

"Microelectronics must remain in Europe, we need a European technology strategy, a master plan", demanded the VDE in the context of the position paper. In order to maintain prosperity in the long term, Europe must push the development of its own microelectronics production much more intensively and with greater commitment. “The systemically important chip industry has an impact on the entire economy. The current crisis in the automotive industry shows how dependent our industry is on semiconductor manufacturers in Asia and the USA”, explains the VDE. In the new position paper "Hidden Electronics II", the technology experts analyze the status quo of microelectronics and show how Germany/Europe can achieve its technological sovereignty - if the political will is there.
