The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Ruhr-Universität Bochum stands out for its dynamic research engagement and innovative teaching approaches. Our professors lead research teams in various key areas such as AI-Integrated Sustainable Systems, Photonics and Plasmatechnologies, Microelectronics and Sensors. Additionally, we cover a wide range of topics including energy technology and medical technology in a comprehensive manner.

International cutting-edge research is conducted both interdisciplinary with industrial partners and in faculty- and university-wide collaborative projects, as well as in individual projects. State-of-the-art laboratories and the short distances of a campus university enable the consolidation of various research competencies.

The "Forschungslabore Mikroelektronik Deutschland (ForLab)" open up new fields of research for the microelectronics of the future and strengthen Germany as a microelectronics location.

terahertz.NRW

terahertz.NRW brings together experts in terahertz research – from North Rhine-Westphalia and around the world. The network aims to develop new mobile applications for communication, localization, material characterization, medical technology, and environmental monitoring.

 

6GEM

The value of future 6G systems for socially and industrially highly relevant use cases is intended to be demonstrated. To this end, seven test fields will be integrated and equipped with 6G systems.

SFB 196 – MARIE

In MARIE, the focus is on precisely and dynamically characterizing and locating moving materials in our daily environment.

6GEMcubator

The "6GEMcubator" will establish a novel entity for North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) and beyond, addressing the urgent need for strategic technology transfer from research into innovative entrepreneurship and into society.

SFB 1316

This Collaborative Research Center investigates how the non-equilibrium nature of a plasma transfers upon contact with liquids and solids.
