|   Aktuelle Meldungen

At the Faculty Colloquium on November 5, 2025, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Aydin Sezgin from the Chair of Digital Communication Systems spoke about key technologies paving the way toward 6G. His lecture was titled “Enabling 6G: Computing, Sensing and Intelligent Environments for Next-Generation Wireless.”

After a welcome address by Managing Director Dr. Corinna Heldt, Prof. Sezgin provided fascinating insights into current research topics. He explained concepts such as cooperative multiple access for extended reality and reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, which are regarded as key technologies for future 6G communication systems.

Prof. Sezgin emphasized that future 6G networks will support a wide range of applications in industry and society. According to the ITU vision, these include the metaverse, digital twins, smart homes, smart cities, and autonomous driving – scenarios in which intelligent, interconnected environments will play a central role.

Following the presentation, participants enjoyed refreshments and took the opportunity to engage in discussions and networking.

The next Faculty Colloquium will take place on January 21, 2026, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. in Room ID 04/471+459. Invited speakers are Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Mussenbrock (Chair of Applied Electrodynamics and Plasma Technology) and Dr.-Ing. Marcel van Delden (Chair of Electronic Circuits).
