MARIE – Mobile material characterization and localization by electromagnetic sensing
In order to be able to precisely characterize, localize and visualize materials in daily environment, a compact device for mobile use in any environment is to be developed. This Mobile Material Transceiver could be used, for example, for searching and classifying objects under difficult environmental conditions, as well as for sensory support in the humanitarian field. The University of Duisburg-Essen, the Ruhr University Bochum, the University of Wuppertal, the Technical University of Darmstadt, the Technical University of Dresden, the Fraunhofer Institute IMS and the Fraunhofer Institute FHR are involved in this collaborative research center funded by the DFG.
Project duration: 2017 – 2020 (period 1), 2021 - 2024 (period 2), 2025 - 2028 (period 3)
