1951 born in Hornburg, Wolfenbüttel District

The Research Group "Electronic Materials and Nanoelectronics" represents the corresponding realm in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Ruhr-University Bochum. In the Masters program, the elective lecture "Nanoelectronics" is offered in the Study specialisation "Electronics", which presents the current status of nanoelectronics and semiconductor nanotechnology in industry and science. Correspondingly, research is oriented to novel electronic devices exploiting non-classical transport processes in nanoscale semiconductor structures. Nanostructures are prepared from different semiconductor materials like Si/SiGe and GaAs/AlGaAs heterolayers or graphene films, and the electronic transport is studied at temperatures ranging from 4 K to room temperature as well as under high magnetic fields. Transport mechanisms of particular interest are ballistic transport, single-electron effects, and quantum phenomena.
