Universität Nagoya | Japan
Through our exchange programme with Nagoya University, students from our faculty have the opportunity to spend a semester in the port city of Nagoya in Japan and study there at the Graduate School of Engineering.
Nagoya is Japan's fourth largest city and is located between Tokyo (approx. 350 kilometres away) and Osaka (approx. 170 kilometres away). The university has produced several Nobel Prize winners over the past 20 years and is one of the most renowned universities in Japan.

We also offer information about our cooperation with Nagoya University and other exchange programmes during our information event "Pathways abroad", which takes place every semester. The dates are announced on the student counselling page. All interested students are invited!
Who is the programme suitable for?
The exchange places at Nagoya University are awarded to Master's students in their final year of study and to doctoral students. The exchange programme is only open to students of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and the Lasers and Photonics degree programme.
To participate in this programme, students must have an average grade of at least 75% (the average grade includes both the Bachelor's degree and the previous grades in the Master's programme).
Recognition of study and examination results
We recommend that you find out about the courses offered by the partner universities before you apply. Before leaving the country, possible recognition should be discussed, then there is usually nothing to prevent a smooth integration into the local degree programme.
Financing
If you participate in the cooperation programme with Nagoya University, the tuition fees will be covered. The rest of the stay must be financed independently. Contact the Student Advising Service for information on financing options.
Alternatively, it is possible to apply for the RUB or Nagoya University funding programmes.
