IT-Engineering (B.Sc.)
Bachelor's program
In the practice-oriented bachelor’s program in IT-Engineering, students engage intensively with various areas of information processing. How do mobile networks operate? How is data transmitted across the internet, and what role will emerging technologies such as 6G play? Communication technology is a key component of today’s interconnected world.
IT-Engineering also plays a crucial role in the development of autonomous vehicles and their advanced sensor technologies. In these vehicles, sensor data from cameras, radar, and other systems are combined to create a comprehensive picture of the surrounding environment.

- Standard period of study:
6 semesters - Degree: Bachelor of Science
- Languages of instruction:
German and English - Start: Winter semester
- Admission: admission-free
*Note for international applicants
Also possible as a dual study program or a research-integrated study program
In the dual study you already work in a company from the 1st semester, earn money and combine your bachelor's degree with industry experience.
In the research-integrated study program, you earn money alongside your studies by working as a student research assistant at one of the participating chairs.
Admission requirements
You should have a basic understanding of mathematics and enjoy logical thinking. But don’t worry—during the bachelor’s program you will learn all the essential foundations. You can also attend preparatory courses before the program begins and work together with other students in our tutorials during your studies. In addition, our student advising team is available to support you with any questions or difficulties you may encounter.
As a rule, a general university entrance qualification (Abitur) is required. However, it is also possible to qualify for admission through alternative pathways.

Career prospects
As an engineer in the field of IT-Engineering many doors are open to you, because your knowledge is needed in many future‑oriented areas. Whether you aim for an academic career or want to go into industry: We support you in career planning.
Shape the future
In the IT-Engineering study program, interested students learn through a holistic perspective to design hardware systems and program them with the necessary software.
Information technology increasingly shapes everyday life—from smart home systems and autonomous driving to robotics and automation. Students learn how these systems work and which software and algorithms are required to ensure that smart devices and production systems operate reliably.

Prof. Dr. Aydin Sezgin co-designed the new IT-Engineering study program.
