The network in North Rhine-Westphalia for excellent terahertz research
The terahertz.NRW network, coordinated by the Fraunhofer Institute for High Frequency Physics and Radar Techniques in Wachtberg, has been funded since 2022. In addition to Ruhr-Universität Bochum, the Fraunhofer Institute for Microelectronic Circuits and Systems and the Universities of Duisburg-Essen and Wuppertal are also involved and are receiving 18 million euros in funding from the state. The crystallisation point of the network is the MARIE Collaborative Research Centre funded by the German Research Foundation as well as the previous collaboration in one of the four 6G research hubs, with which the federal government is promoting application-oriented research in the field of 6G technology.
