Dr.-Ing. Mikail Yayla

I am currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Chair of Embedded Systems at Ruhr University Bochum. From 2023 to 2025, I worked in the semiconductor industry as a Senior R&D Engineer and Team Lead at Racyics GmbH, focusing on system-on-chip (SoC) design. From 2019 to 2023, I was a researcher at the Technical University of Dortmund at the Chair of Design Automation for Embedded Systems, where I earned my PhD.

My experience spans research, teaching, and industry, with expertise across multiple abstraction layers, ranging from SoC architecture and digital hardware design to RTL-to-GDS flows, low-level systems software, and high-level software, including machine learning frameworks.

Research focus:

  • HW/SW co-design, with a focus on embedded ML
  • Networked embedded systems
  • System-on-chips (SoCs)
  • Digital hardware design
  • Open-source RTL-to-GDS tools

Practical expertise:

  • Digital hardware design for ASICs and FPGAs (VHDL/SystemVerilog)
  • Low-level software and scripting for embedded systems (C, C++, CUDA)
  • High-level software and ML frameworks (Python, PyTorch).
