SFB MARIE

Mobile Material-Charakterisierung und -Ortung durch elektromagnetische Abtastung

Ver­schüt­te­te Per­so­nen in schwer zu­gäng­li­chen Ge­bie­ten auf­fin­den, schmo­ren­de Kabel in Wän­den lo­ka­li­sie­ren oder Ma­te­ri­al­ei­gen­schaf­ten be­rüh­rungs­los be­stim­men, all dies soll mit Hilfe eines mo­bi­len, kom­pak­ten De­tek­tors mög­lich wer­den. Hier­zu set­zen die For­scher im Rah­men des Son­der­for­schungs­be­reichs MARIE („Mo­bi­le Ma­te­ri­al-Cha­rak­te­ri­sie­rung und -Or­tung durch Elek­tro­ma­gne­ti­sche Ab­tas­tung“) auf den noch nicht in­ten­siv ge­nutz­ten Tera­hertz-Be­reich - mit sei­nen ein­zig­ar­ti­gen Ei­gen­schaf­ten. THz-Strah­lung kann zahl­rei­che Ma­te­ria­len wie Pa­pier, Kunst­stoff und Klei­dung durch­drin­gen und eig­net sich damit her­vor­ra­gend zur zer­stö­rungs­frei­en Ma­te­ri­al­cha­rak­te­ri­sie­rung. Be­son­ders die Be­stim­mung von Ma­te­ri­al­ei­gen­schaf­ten und die prä­zi­se In­door-Lo­ka­li­sie­rung er­for­dern je­doch eine ex­trem hohe Pha­sen­auf­lö­sung und Pha­sen­sta­bi­li­tät des elek­tro­ma­gne­ti­schen Mess­si­gnals. Daher wer­den am Lehr­stuhl für Elek­tro­ni­sche Schal­tungs­tech­nik im Pro­jekt C01 neu­ar­ti­ge Kon­zep­te für Pha­sen­re­gel­schlei­fen zur Syn­the­se von Fre­quenz­ram­pen mit hoher Band­brei­te sowie äu­ßers­ter Pha­sen­sta­bi­li­tät und Ram­pen­li­nea­ri­tät er­forscht.

Hier­zu wer­den sämt­li­che Kom­po­nen­ten des Re­gel­krei­ses, un­ter­and­e­rem Tei­ler und Pha­sen-Fre­quenz-Dis­kri­mi­na­to­ren eben­falls op­ti­miert, um beste Pha­sen­rau­sch­ei­gen­schaf­ten zu ge­währ­leis­ten. Einen be­son­de­ren Schwer­punkt stel­len dabei die Os­zil­la­to­ren dar. Neben äu­ßerst breit­ban­di­gen Yt­tri­um-Ei­sen-Gra­nat Os­zil­la­to­ren wer­den Sa­phir-Hohl­rau­m­os­zil­la­to­ren (SLCO: Sapp­hi­re Loa­ded Ca­vi­ty Oscil­la­tor) er­forscht, die eine hoch fre­quenz­sta­bi­le und gleich­zei­tig sehr rau­schar­me Re­fe­renz für Sys­te­me mit gro­ßen Fre­quen­zen bis in den Tera­hertz-Be­reich er­mög­li­chen.

Zahl­rei­che For­sche­rin­nen und For­scher ar­bei­ten im SFB/Trans­re­gio MARIE zu­sam­men. Neben der Ruhr-Uni­ver­si­tät Bo­chum sind For­schungs­part­ner von der Ber­gi­schen Uni­ver­si­tät Wup­per­tal, der TU Darm­stadt, Uni­ver­si­tät Du­is­burg-Es­sen sowie dem Fraun­ho­fer In­sti­tut be­tei­ligt. Das Pro­jekt wird seit dem 1. Ja­nu­ar 2017 für zu­nächst 4 Jahre ge­för­dert.
