International Double Degree (Incoming Students)

Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (B. Sc.)

A cooperation between Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) and Universidad Nacional de Colombia (UNAL) in Bogotá, Colombia.

Since 2020, you can obtain two Bachelor degrees in one study programme (international double degree)Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (ETIT) at RUB by completing the first part of your Bachelor's degree at UNAL in Bogotá and coming to RUB in the final year of your studies, where you will also write your Bachelor's thesis.

Information for Incoming Students

You are studying Ingeniería Electrónica at UNAL in Bogotá, or will be studying there, and would like to spend your final year of study in Germany as part of the Double Degree Programme:

Programme Schedule

You will spend the first eight semesters studying Ingeniería Electrónica at UNAL and the last two semesters at RUB in Germany. You will also write your final thesis in Germany (in English). At the end of the programme, you will be awarded both the Colombian and the German Bachelor's certificate.

Why is a Double Degree interesting for me?

  • You will obtain two degrees in one programme (a Colombian Ingeniero/-a Electrónico/a and a German Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology).
  • You will take part in UNAL's only double-degree programme in engineering with a German university.
  • You will conduct research in state-of-the-art laboratories and contribute your ideas to cutting-edge German and international research.
  • You will expand your language skills, which will open up many opportunities in a global market and an international research landscape.
  • Your experiences abroad will help you to develop your personality and broaden your horizons.

Scholarships in the context of the Double Degree Programme

As part of the Double Degree Programme, you have the opportunity to apply for attractive scholarships. Each year, the faculty provides a scholarship programme that includes a variety of opportunities that support both national and international students.

The scholarship pool currently includes funding from various sources:

  • Erasmus+
  • DAAD
  • Volkswagen Infotainment

The application for the scholarships is made at the same time as the application for the Double Degree Programme. In order to qualify for a scholarship, you must be accepted into the Double Degree Programme. The final award of the scholarships is made by an awards committee. The same deadlines apply as for the application to the programme.

Scholarship providers as partners

Our scholarship providers - including Erasmus+, DAAD and Volkswagen Infotainment - make a significant contribution to promoting the academic and professional development of our students. They not only provide financial support, but also help to create an international and practice-orientated environment that helps students to broaden their skills and perspectives.
